Open data attribution
Parts of the Prism product catalogue are built from Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts, community projects that collect food and cosmetic product information. Where Prism shows product data derived from these projects — such as product names, brands, ingredient lists, images, nutrition facts, or official score signals — that data is © Open Food Facts / Open Beauty Facts contributors and is used under the Open Database License (ODbL).
Prism-original information — contaminant lab panels, lab reports, curated ingredient and additive knowledge, parent-company data, and user submissions — is kept separate from the open-data fields and is not covered by these projects’ licenses.
Open Database License (ODbL)
The Open Database License is a share-alike license for databases. It allows Prism to use, adapt, and build on Open Food Facts / Open Beauty Facts data, provided the source is attributed and any republished database derived from it is made available under the same terms.
Prism periodically publishes the Open-Food-Facts-derived portion of its catalogue as an ODbL-licensed export so the share-alike requirement is met. The Prism-original data described above is excluded from that export.
